Armed Robbery in Amherst

Amherst, NY (WKBW)- Amherst Police are investigating an armed robbery at M & M Gold Refining and Coin Store located on Main Street near Transit Road in Amherst. Police say two men entered the store just after 9 a.m., showed the owner a piece of jewelry and left. The two men then barged into the store around 10:30 a.m., with one displaying a shotgun. Detectives say the men bound the owner with duct-tape and took him into the back room of the store. The robbers took off with an undisclosed amount cash, 2 shotguns, and a handgun. The suspects are described as African American men, wearing dark clothing with collared shirts. One is about 6 feet tall, the other about 5'6. Amherst Police have released a surveillance photo of what could be the suspects' car: a Mercury Milan. The owner was unharmed and was able to free himself and call 911. Police also say the store was burglarized Tuesday night, but are unsure if the two cases are related. Anyone with information is asked to call Amherst Police at: 716-689-1311.
