BUFFALO, NY ( WKBW ) A Town of Tonawanda teen who was just like all the other 19 year olds, had just finished high school and started college when tragedy struck.

Young Anthony was diagnosed with esophogeal cancer in 2007, unheard of for a person of his age.

Anthony's Mom Cindy Mannino explained, "He had very few symptoms...he went through the typical treatment of chemotherapy and radiation, but unfortunately we lost our son on March 8th, 2009."

Through that long fight, his parents came to realize there was lots of support for cancer patients who were young or elderly...but not for "tweeners."

As a result, Cindy and Tony Mannino put together a foundation in his honor to help young people and their families who need assistance.

Thanks to these Western New York parents, life will get a little easier for others. If you would like to know more, or support the Mannino Foundation, go to the "news links" at
