Less than a month after a U.S. satellite plunged back to Earth and landed in the Pacific Ocean, another satellite is set to fall back to the planet in similar fashion.
According to a Space.com report, a dead German satellite is expected to fall to Earth within the next week -- but when and where are still a mystery.
According to the Space.com report, German space officials believe the 2.4-ton craft will re-enter the Earth's atmosphere between Oct. 21 and 25 -- with Oct. 22 or Oct. 23 as the most likely dates. Officials believe much of the satellite will break up upon re-entry, but some pieces are expected to make it back to the planet's surface, the story says.
