Buffalo, NY (WKBW) - It looks as if Buffalo Restaurateur Mark Croce has some competition. Another developer has his eye on the Statler Towers: Albany Developer Uri Kaufman. Kaufman says he would pay $250,000 in cash for the property plus $500,000 in back taxes. Mark Croce has offered to pay $200,000 plus all back taxes, but has yet to close on his deal. Tuesday in court, Federal Bankruptcy Judge Carl Bucki granted Croce another extension. The building's trustee says he's waiting for waivers on outstanding bills which include water and sewer along with county and city taxes. The waivers would take away the city's rights to pursue back taxes from the estate and building's trustee. The purchaser would still have to pay back taxes.

"This has not waived the claims against the property, no one has waived a penny of public money in the process," said Croce's Attorney Robert Knoer.

Croce has until March 9th to close on his deal.
