BUFFALO, NY (WKBW/AMERICAN HEART ASSOCIATION PRESS RELEASE) - Chic and Sweet, a local women's fashion boutique located at 1453 Hertel Avenue in Buffalo, is celebrating its one year anniversary. In honor of this event, Chic and Sweet will be donating a portion of all sales made in August to the American Heart Association, benefiting the "Go Red For Women" campaign. In addition, every customer who makes a purchase in the month of August of at least $50 at the store will receive a free red chiffon scarf.

Heart disease is the leading cause of death in Western New York women. Store owners Zach and Annemarie Schneider, would like to raise awareness for this disease by supporting the American Heart Association's "Go Red For Women" campaign. Thanks to the tremendous success and outpouring of support received during Chic and Sweet's first year, which saw Zach and Annemarie garner the Best New Business Award from Buffalo Spree, they've decided to give back to a charity that will create a positive, local influence.

Located in Amherst, the American Heart Association is a non-profit organization that was founded in 1924, to provide appropriate cardiac care in an effort to reduce the deaths caused by heart disease. The mission of the American Heart Association is to increase the efforts in cardiovascular science, education and community programs, and fund raising efforts. The American Heart Association urges the community to participate in local events and advocacy with the promotion of healthier lifestyle habits. One such program the American Heart Association sponsors is their campaign, "Go Red For Women." Each year, cardiovascular disease takes the lives of 500,000 women. The campaign began in 2004, to help raise awareness to the risk of the disease and take action against it. The American Heart Association uses the funds raised to educate women on the risks of this diseases and preventative measures.

Come celebrate the one-year anniversary at Chic and Sweet, located at the corner of Hertel Ave and Norwalk Ave on Thursday, August 2nd, starting at 5PM, and support a great cause by helping the American Heart Association raise awareness for women's risks of heart disease.
