AMHERST, N.Y (Business First) - The developers of a proposed Amherst senior housing complex will formally present their plans to a town agency later this week.
MEL Investors LLC are scheduled to meet Thursday night with the Amherst Planning Board to discuss their proposal to construct a three-story, 99-unit apartment complex that will be geared towards the senior citizens market. The building is proposed for the southwest corner of Maple and Ayer roads. Combined three parcels totaling 3.46 acres have been put together to house the project.
All told, the building would have 108,000-square-feet and a mix of one-bedroom and two-bedroom units.
The mostly vacant land - save for one house - is just a few blocks east of Millard Fillmore Suburban Hospital.
The project carries a $8.875 million development price tag, according to Amherst town records.
MEL Investors LLC includes Paul Bliss from Bliss Construction and Mike Connors, who most recently worked for Clover Management.
If approved, construction is expected to start this spring and the first units should be tenant-ready by mid-2014.
