(Amherst, N.Y.) Around 7:30pm Wednesday night, an Amherst woman in her 50's was attacked while trying to unload groceries in her garage on Bramhill Court in Amherst.

The woman had just returned from the Niagara Falls Wegmans when a man surprised her in her garage.

The attacker wanted the woman's purse. When she refused to hand it over, the man punched and dragged the woman halfway down the driveway.

The thief wrestled her purse out of her hands and fled in what might be a small sedan with a loud muffler.

The woman suffered minor injuries.

The victim told Amherst Police that her attacker looked very much like a person she saw standing in the lobby of the Niagara Falls Wegmans when she was leaving earlier that evening.

Police are now trying to figure out if this latest attack / purse snatching is related to a series of purse thefts in Niagara County.

The suspect is described as a Black Male, approximately 5'9" tall, small build, last seen wearing a dark hat, a scarf partially covering his face, and a light blue and gray plaid jacket.
