Amherst, NY (WKBW) - In Amherst, a town council member is going head to head with the town supervisor. Both are vying for the same seat.

One of the big issues to come up in the race for town supervisor is development.

Both Dr. Barry Weinstein (R), the current town supervisor, and Mark Manna (D), a current council member, are running for the seat. Each claim to be the best for growth in the town.

Taxes are also taking a front seat in the race. Barry Weinstein points to an annual decrease ever since he took office four years ago. Mark Manna is pushing a platform of continuing to lower taxes.

This would be Weinstein's second and last term as town supervisor, if elected. Amherst allows for a town supervisor to serve a maximum of two terms.

If Weinstein reclaims his seat, Manna would keep his seat as a council member.
