AMHERST, N.Y. (WKBW) -It would have been the most aggressive group of anti-tobacco laws in the region, but tonight at a packed Amherst Town Board meeting, council members rejected proposals putting restrictions on sales of tobacco.
The resolution would have increased the legal age to buy the products from 18 to 21. It would have banned the sale of items like cigarettes within 1,500 feet of a school.
Also, it would have stopped all pharmacies and convenience stores from selling all tobacco products.
