AMHERST, NY ( WKBW ) Amherst Police announced that they are looking into the alleged bullying of Jamey Rodemeyer as a possible hate crime.

Police say they are looking into whether charges could be filed as a hate crime or harrassment.

The 14 year old teen took his own life over two weeks ago as a result of alleged bullying from classmates at Williamsville North High School.

His tragic death made news around the world.

Police released information to Eyewitness News that no arrests or charges have been made at this time. According to their investigation, up to six teens possibly harrassed Jamey.

Shortly after Jamey's funeral services, his sister was allegedly harrassed by a small group of students at a school dance who said "I am glad he is dead." Police stated at the news conference that it was not illegal for that comment to be made.
