Amherst, NY (WKBW) Richard Brophy of Amherst was beside himself when his orange and white cat, Topaz, went missing in early July.

"He was in the screened in patio and all of a sudden he took off at about 8:30 at night...we looked until about 11 then I went out every day, three times a day, until the end of october.", said Brophy.

Brophy peppered his neighborhood with missing posters, hoping that someone may have seen his beloved pet. After months of searching Brophy, heart broken, gave up his search. Then just days before Christmas he was called by the SPCA serving Erie County.

Topaz had been brought in as a stray but Topaz had a microchip implant with Brophy's contact information on it. Now cat and owner have been reunited after nearly six months.

"I was really surprised....because I really missed him.", said Brophy, with tears welling in his eyes.
