Lockport, NY (WKBW)- Two Lockport teenagers are recovering in the hospital after being struck by an alleged drunk driver.

According to the Niagara County Sheriff's Office, 36 year old Amy Schumacher of Gasport was driving east on Dysinger Road near Beattie Avenue in the Town of Lockport, when her car veered off the road and struck two boys.

According to friends the teens, 14-year old Anthony Sammarco and 13-year-old Christian Schufelt, were heading to a nearby apartment complex to meet up with friends. Police believe the teens were on the shoulder of the road when they were hit. Sammarco is listed in critical condition at ECMC, and Schufelt is listed in stable condition at Women and Children's Hospital in Buffalo. Police say the driver admitted to texting her babysitter just before the crash.

"If your doing all those things, many times you get lucky and you never hear about it but not last night, we didn't get lucky. The combination of potential texting, potential drunk driving, dark roads, and a couple of boys walking down the street, it ended in disaster," said Niagara County Sheriff James Voutour.

Amy Schumacher is currently free on bail tonight and charged with D.W.I. and pending toxicology results, additional charges could also be pending..
