LOCKPORT, NY (WKBWRelease) - Lockport Police Department was assisted by Niagara Falls CIB and Intel staff on Monday in locating the suspects in Niagara Falls.
Chelsee Williams, 18 years old, of Niagara County Community College dorms and Ashley Bivins, 21 years old, of 21st Street in Niagara Falls were both charged with Robbery 2nd, Assault 2nd and conspiracy.
The two woman assisted the two other suspects, James McClendon of Niagara Falls and Jessica Burgess formally of Lockport, already in custody for assaulting the night clerk of the Gulf Gas Station on Walnut Street in Lockport, on Sept 15th just after midnight.
The four suspects planned and waited for the store to be clear of customers, just after midnight before they executed their plan. Burgess entered the store, where the clerk, 31-year-old male, was sprayed in the face by Burgess with mace.
After the Burgess sprayed him with mace, she waived in Ashley Bivins and James McClendon into the store while Chelsee Williams stood by in a getaway vehicle across the street next to Pat's Place Tavern.
The clerk fought to escape the store but was delayed by McClendon, who made strong physical efforts to restrain him. The two women suspects and McClendon worked unsuccessfully to open the cash register but failed.
The clerk eventually got out and ran for help over to Pat's Place Tavern where several patrons took up action and assisted in the detention and apprehension of two suspects. McClendon and Burgess were caught by the bar patrons and held for Police. Bivins and Williams got away in Williams vehicle.
Loss of inventory and damage estimate are not yet complete.
McClendon and Bivins were dressed all dark clothing with ski mask type hats or scarves to cover their faces and all had gloves.
Store video and civilian efforts assisted greatly in this investigation bringing about four solid arrests.
All four have future dates in Lockport City Court and eventually Niagara County Court.
