NIAGARA FALLS, N.Y. ( WKBW ) In Niagara Falls, the 107th Airlift Wing was slated to lose 845 jobs.
A group called the Council of Governors has been very outspoken, and upset, with the Air Force plans, saying the cuts would leave states vulnerable in times of emergencies.
Now, there is a new development.
This week, Defense Secretary Leon Panetta announced that he has agreed to restore 2,200 Air National Guard jobs, and 24 C-130 aircraft, to the budget proposal sent to Congress.
Congressman Brian Higgins told Eyewitness news that while it is still unclear what Panetta's plan means for the 107th, the WNY delegation is hoping to get clarity soon.
Eyewitness News will continue to cover this story.
