Abandoned Puppy Owner Comes Forward

December 7, 2013 Updated Dec 9, 2013 at 1:56 PM EDT

Evans, N.Y-The Town of Evans Police Department solved the case of the puppy that was abandoned on Holland Road.

By posting the picture of the puppy on local media sites, a call came in notifying Police with the owner’s information.

Evans Police began to compare notes from the investigation and noticed that the person who turned the puppy in was also the same person that had purchased the puppy in August of this year.

The owner was contacted and asked to answer some questions about the incident. He immediately broke down and explained to the officer that he accidentally stepped on the puppy and knew he injured the puppy’s leg.

William Montroy Jr. released a statement saying, “I apologize for the story and for my actions but I just wanted the dog to be taken care of because I nor my family had any means to pay for the vet bills of the magnitude and didn’t want the puppy to be euthanized.”

There are no given charges at this time.
