Volunteers Recognized In The Fight Against Alzheimers

BUFFALO, NY ( WKBW ) The Western New York Chapter of the Alzheimers Association gathered at Chef's Restaurant Thursday night to recognize volunteers, community leaders, and area businesses for their support in helping people and caregivers cope with the disease.

Lelani Pelletier organized the dinner to update the organization on what has been raised in 2011, and plans for 2012.

Award recipients include:
Helen R. Wright Volunteer Of The Year Award: Recipient- Julia Schrader.

Community Awareness Award: Recipient - WKBW Channel 7. Director of News & Community Affairs John Di Sciullo and Meteorologist Aaron Mentkowski accepted on behalf of the station and the Eyewitness News team.

The Spirit of Hope Award: Recipient - Dan Lettieri

William P. Gillick Quality Of Life Award: Recipient - Nancy Tulumello

Special Recognition: ElderWood Senior Care.
