OLD FORT NIAGARA, N.Y. (WKBW)- Independent Living of Niagara County hosted their 8th Annual Fishing Derby Sunday.

Over 100 people enjoying the picture perfect day out on the water. Many spending more than 6 hours doing their best to catch the largest fish.

While dozens of fish, both large and small, were caught, participants and organizers say the competition is about so much more.

"We want everyone, regardless of their disability, to enjoy the same activities as someone without a disability," said Katie Tromeley of Independent Living of Niagara County.

The organization raised hundreds of dollars at the event to help support programming for the thousands with disablilties in the area.
