BUFFALO, NY (WKBW) -- Six people were arrested and charged with disorderly conduct after a violent confrontation broke out between large groups of people in downtown Buffalo Thursday night.
The group was making its way from Thursday at the Square to the Chippewa Strip when several fights broke out along Main Street, said Buffalo Police spokesman Michael DeGeorge.
"There were a couple of skirmishes from what I understand outside of the event itself. There were some skirmishes and it's my understanding that some people were arrested and most of those people were charged with disorderly conduct," DeGeorge said.
Two weekends ago, a similar situation broke out in the core of the Chippewa Strip near closing time.
Police have added extra patrols to the area on Friday and Saturday nights.
Bar and nightclub owners said most of the problems are being caused by young people, who are not old enough to drink and can't gain access to a lot of the businesses on West Chippewa Street.
