State of Emergency Declared in Erie County, Local Towns

ERIE COUNTY, NY (WKBW-TV) - A State of Emergency is now in effect for Erie County due to the the impact of a significant winter snowstorm. The storm is creating blizzard like conditions and arctic cold temperatures which impacts public safety. The State of Emergency will remain in effect until rescinded by subsequent order.

All Erie County governmental offices will be closed on Tuesday, January 7, 2014; however, essential County employees should report to work. Employees who are uncertain of their status should contact their supervisor.

Orchard Park has also declared a State of Emergency and issued a driving ban. All offices are closed on Tuesday. So is court.

In the Town and Village of Hamburg, a State of Emergency and travel ban have been put into place.

Evans, Angola and the Village of Lancaster have also implemented a State of Emergency and driving ban.

East Aurora and Elma have put a driving ban into effect as well.

In Colden, the travel ban has been lifted.
