2 Separate Fatal Accidents in Town of Cambria

Town of Cambria, NY (WKBW) -The Niagara County Sheriff's Office responded to a one-car rollover accident on Route 31 near Old Shawnee Road in the Town of Cambria. Investigators say the driver, a 29-year-old female, was traveling east bound when she lost control of her vehicle, and crossed over the center line. The car landed upside down in a nearby field. The 29-year-old driver was ejected from the car and was pronounced dead on arrival at Mount. Saint Mary's Hospital. A male passenger suffered minor injuries. Their names are not being released at this hour, pending notification of family.

"Drivers have to be safe," said Sgt. Kevin Locicero of the Niagara County Sheriff's Office. "They must maintain the speed limit, wear their seat belts, stop the texting, and really stop using all those electronic devices that are in vehicles right now. They are distracting the drivers."

This is a the second fatal accident on Route 31 in Cambria in just a few days. Friday at approximately 9:15 a.m., a pickup truck was traveling eastbound on Route 31 when the driver lost control of the vehicle, crossed the center line and struck another vehicle head-on.The driver of the pickup truck, identified as 32-year-old Richard Dunn, was pronounced dead at the scene. The other vehicle was occupied by two males and two females. All patients were transported to ECMC and as of Sunday, 3 remain hospitalized.
