On Wednesday, December 4, 2013 seven year old Shalea King was dropped off at Hewitt Avenue and Orleans Street.
She told the bus driver this was not her normal stop and this was not her home. The little girl says he told her to "get off."
King was supposed to be dropped off at Northland and Winchester Avenues at her great grandmother's home which has been the done for the past three years.
After waiting close to two hours for her daughter arrive at her normal bus stop, Shalea's mother, Shawnte McDowell became frantic and called the bus company First Student.
McDowell was transferred to at least seven different people before finally being told that the bus driver had gone home for the day.
Thankfully, Shalea was spotted by an alert police officer who saw her roaming the streets crying.
That officer was able to drive her home thanks to Shalea's directions.
McDowell says she has not been contacted by First Student since the incident happened. However, First Student released a statement to the media stating that it is investigating the incident.
Buffalo school superintendent Pamela Brown did contact McDowell to apologize.
