TOWN OF COLLINS, NY ( WKBW ) A car crash early Saturday morning on Versailles Plank Road has claimed the life of a 14-year-old girl.
Officials tell Eyewitness News that a silver mustang convertible crashed before 4:30a.m. on Versailles Plank Road near Snow Road on the Cattaraugus Indian Reservation.
Erie County Sheriff's tell us a group of teenagers were traveling on the road when the driver, a 19-year-old from Hamburg, apparently lost control of the vehicle for an unknown reason. The vehicle dropped off the side of a 50-foot ravine.
The Sheriff's spokesperson says there were five people in the car when the accident occurred, all were teenagers. A 14-year-old girl died from injuries sustained in the accident while another 14-year-old girl remains at Women and Children's Hospital of Buffalo in critical condition. The other three people involved were treated and released from local hospitals.
The Erie County Sheriff's Office says the car was heading to a cottage in Sunset Bay and was following two other vehicles. The other cars were not involved in the crash.
The identity of the deceased, and others involved in the crash, have not officially been released.
