BUFFALO, NY ( release ) June 7, 2012 – A total of 12,667 runners and walkers – all full-time workers who entered as part of corporate teams – from 403 Erie County companies competed tonight in the 32nd annual JPMorgan Chase Corporate Challenge at Delaware Park.
The 3.5-mile road race took off at 6:45 p.m. and companies celebrated post-race in more than 300 hospitality tents throughout the park. Employees from businesses of all sizes and industry groups took part for healthy competition, camaraderie, team-building, and a significant contribution to the community.
A donation was made by the JPMorgan Chase Foundation in honor of the Corporate Challenge participants to the American Red Cross of Greater Buffalo.
The individual winners were Vasilis Kariolis of Dopkins & Co. in the men’s division with a winning time of 17:51 and Jennifer Koeppel-Acker of Amherst Central School District in the women’s division with a time of 20:35.
The largest companies in terms of participation were: Tops Friendly Markets (636, up from 410 in 2011);Buffalo Public Schools (396); Kaleida Health (286); Catholic Health (270); First Niagara Bank (255); Ingram Micro (253); Wegmans (225); Moog (223); University at Buffalo (198); and M&T Bank (192).
Company team results will be announced following verification of employment and eligibility of the top runners. The first-place men’s, women’s and mixed teams will earn an expense-paid trip to the next J.P. Morgan Corporate Challenge Championship. The Championship will be held in 2013, precise date and location to be announced.
The JPMorgan Chase Corporate Challenge in Buffalo is part of the 13-city, seven-country, five-continent JPMorgan Chase Corporate Challenge Series. More than 255,000 participants are projected to enter worldwide in 2012.
