'Giving trees' decorated with clothes for needy

SOUTH BUFFALO, N.Y. (WKBW) - Nancy Kader is calling them the 'giving trees,' and she says she hopes they make a difference for the needy in South Buffalo this winter.

They're trees whose leaves have fallen off, but whose branches now hold packs of clothes like scarves, hats, and mittens for anyone who might need them. Kader and a friend went shopping on Monday to pack about 25 bags to hang on the trees. Two days later, only half remained.

"I'm happy, I'm very happy that it's working," Kader said. "We go home in our beds, we go home in our nice warm clothes, and there are people that don't. They don't have any of this."

As of the evening of December 6, Kader said multiple packs have been added to the trees. She hopes her neighbors continue to reach out and help those around them all season long.
