BUFFALO, NY (WKBW) -- A male victim, believed to be in his early 30's, was reportedly shot at several times around 9:00am Tuesday morning on Glenwood Avenue near Main Street. Paramedics quickly responded and the victim was rushed to ECMC with serious injuries, but didn't survive.
One witness says she and her daughter were walking right by the victim just moments before the bullets flew. "All we heard were shots... three shots," the witness said. "We were just walking past the guy and just a matter of seconds he was laying in the street. I turned around, and I just thank God it wasn't us but I felt bad for the person that was lying there."
Police called in the Erie County Sheriff's Helicopter to help chase down a person of interest. Witness say the possible suspect fled on foot and was quickly found by police blocks away from the crime scene and taken to police headquarters.
Buffalo Police Homicide Detectives are investigating. No names are officially being released yet. "The thing is... you see the hat on the ground, that means a person was there," another witness said. "This is just pitiful that a life can end this way and I think the worse thing is there's no good reason for this kind of thing."
Homicide detectives are asking anyone with information about the murder to call the anonymous TIPCALL number (716) 847-2255 or text a tip to the department's website www.bpdny.org.
