August 7, 2011 Updated Aug 7, 2011 at 7:15 PM EDT

Pittsford - It was a soggy start for the Bills on Sunday.. a "soaker
" rolled through St. John Fisher College at around 3pm making for a wet first 20 minutes of practice for players and fans. The rain would clear, but the Bills also dealt with some dark clouds on the injury front.

Bills CB Drayton Florence missed Sunday's practice with a sprained
ankle, and will likely be held out of the preseason opener in Chicago. Chan Gailey says Florence suffered the injury while making a catch during Saturday's practice in the endzone. He's expected to miss 4-to-6 days but Gailey says "Everyone is different when it comes to ankle".

Also on the injury front on Sunday.. Bills LT Demetrius Bell left practice early with a shoulder strain. Gailey says he will miss "a couple of days" with the injury, but It's not believed to be serious.

The Bills wrapped up Sunday's practice with a rarely seen full speed, full contact goal line drill. It was nice to see some live hitting going on.
By my count the Defense won 6 of 9 reps. Bills rookie DL Marcell Dareus described things like this "In goal-line you are in there with the dogs. You have to run through me, or I'm going to run through you. It's when a man comes to play. "

Other highlights from Sunday -

-Ryan Fitzpatrick hit QB/WR Brad Smith for the would be touchdown in 1-on-1 passing drills.

-Tyler Thigpen hit Naaman Roosevelt with a couple of touchdown passes. Roosevelt, a second year WR out of UB is off and running on a strong training camp for the Bills. Chan Gailey had this to say about Roosevelt when I asked him about the WR on Sunday.

"He is a great young player. God didn’t give him a lot of speed. God didn’t give him a lot of size, but he gets the most out of what he has. He is a very good young player and I’m excited to see how he does in the games this year. He did well when threw him in there last year."
