Buffalo ( Friday turned out to be a very busy day, as we chased down the Lee Evans trade. Sorry this is a day late, but here is the transcript of my conversation with Evans shortly after he was traded to Baltimore. I found it interesting that he heard the news on his drive back from training camp in Rochester to Buffalo. He was planning on catching the Bills plane to Chicago, instead he traveled to Baltimore later on Friday night.

JR - Thoughts on being traded to the Ravens?

LE- I'm excited. I'm excited about it. You look at the situation that i'm going into with their team. The players that they have and the success that they've had. I'm excited to go over there and do whatever I can to help the Ravens win.

JR - You were a first round draft pick of the Bills back in 2004, is it bittersweet to leave WNY?

LE - Well, absolutely. Absolutely. I've been here for a long time and I'll always have ties to this community and the fans here have been great. They supported me and my family the whole time I've been here so it's definitely bittersweet. But I guess it's part of the game. So now I'm moving in another situation. I couldn't be happier.

JR - Did the Bills give you a reason why they made the move??

LE - It wasn't personal or anything like that but I think they were moving in a different direction. They felt like they wanted to bring in some new young talent and they did, and they wanted to move forward with the younger talent.

JR- Any hard feelings?

LE - No, No hard feelings. It didn't' come as a complete surprise so there's really no hard feelings. Like I've said, I talked to Chan and Buddy. They both said that they have a lot of respect for me and everything. It was just time to part ways.

JR - You said it wasn't a surprise. Is this something that you knew was in the works? If so, for how long??

LE - No, No. When I say not as a surprise It wasn't something that I thought was going on the whole off season. It's just, you kinda get wind of things a few days before it happens. Rumors, so hearing those kind of things got put in motion and they progressed quickly. So like I said, it didn't come as a surprise just because, had I found out today and didn't know anything, that would've been a surprise but over the last few days I kinda figured out something was in the works. I was prepared for it.

JR - My understanding was you were in Rochester last night (Thursday). Where are you now, and when did you find out???

LE - When I found out I was driving back, driving back here to Buffalo to catch the plane to Chicago. So I was just going to come home and drop some stuff off and head to the plane and I found out on the way back so I'm at home right now. I'll be heading to Baltimore later tonight.

JR - What is your message to the fans as you leave?

LE - Well I just want to say thank you to a great football city, a great football town. The fans are what really make this place special and they've always supported me and my family. I have met people who will be friends for life.
