I guess I knew it would catch up with me eventually. For years I have been an airplane enthusiast, always looking toward the sky every time i hear those engines. I can pretty much tell you what kind of airplane it is and where it is going, just by the sound and a quick glance up. I know the Buffalo airline schedule pretty much by heart. Just some weird interest I picked up when i was a kid. To get to sleep at night I begin running down every airline that serves Buffalo, which gates they use and which cities they fly into out of here. Am I crazy? Anyway, I had to go to the airport yesterday to pick up someone. As i drove around to the arrivals level, a plane was taking off and of course I had to get a good look at it. Next thing I knew I heard a loud bang and then that unmistakable "grinding" sound when you have a flat tire. Long story short. I hit the curb and blew a 4 inch hole in my tire. Oh, did you know that most late model cars don't have spare tires anymore? After a 20 minute search, nothing! Called the AAA, had the car towed to the dealer, called for someone to pick us up and take us home. Picked the car up the next day after shelling out $255 for a new tire. Guess I will make sure I am parked from now on when i indulge in my airplane spotting hobby.
