He's been hanging around for a few weeks now. I usually see him at night when I get home. No, not the Rabbit that has eaten all my garden this year, not the Fox I see running across the road at midnight and not even that big fat Possum who is usually sniffing around my garage door at midnight. Mr. Skunk! There is no mistaking the smell of course and all the neighbors have been in an uproar ever since he was first spotted. Well, when I got up on Saturday morning there he was again. Only this time he wasn't exactly moving. He was spread eagle in the middle of the street. Kind of sad really, because his black and white fur is pretty impressive. Anyway, off i go into the garage to get my "Road Kill" outfit on. Full coveralls, hat, boots and gloves and my trusty shovel in hand. I hated to look at him and had a heck of a time getting him into the box. Had to hold my breath for a while. Finally did it and taped up the box before I took it down to the village public works department and solemnly put him into the dumpster. Oh, by the way, don't ever put a dead Skunk into the trunk of your car. Even if it's only for five minutes. I have an appointment for a full fumigation next week.
