Boy! What a day here in Western New York! Just a few words on the "Earthquake".
I've been through quakes before but it was always something like, "hey, is that my imagination or did I feel something move?" No question about what happened this afternoon.
I was getting ready for work at home, upstairs on the second floor when all of a sudden the entire house began to rumble and shake! At first I thought it was the washing machine again! Whenever that thing goes into the "spin" cycle, all the furniture upstairs begins to rattle. It didn't take long for me to understand this was more than the washing machine. I have two big, heavy book cases against one wall in my office upstairs. All of a sudden they began to rock and roll away from the wall! For a minute I thought they were going to fall right over.! This went on for about 20 seconds, then another 15 seconds or so, less violent.
When it was over I first thought that some heavy equipment had gone down the street, then I thought, "an earthquake?" Sure enough, within ten minutes the news was on the radio. It was indeed an earthquake.
Thank goodness there are no reports of anyone getting hurt or any serious damage. I think we just used up one of our "Nine Lives".
