Well, it's 14 days after chemo number and right on schedule, my hair is falling out. It started with a sore and itchy scalp, now it's every follicle for itself from head to toe! At first, the thought of losing my hair freaked me out the most. But you know what? I'm starting to think it's a lot like pregnancy. When first pregnant, we ladies are horrified of anyone being in the delivery room during this highly personal time. But by the time you are nine months pregnant and ready to go..you don't care if the BBC is there with a wide lens! That's kind of how I'm feeling about the hair. I think I mourned it's passing about a month ago. And while people think it will be hard to have an Eyewitness News camera there while it happens, well that part is actually the easiest for me. Photojournalist Ed Reilly and I have captured life's moments together for over 20 years! Ed and I even snagged a New York State Emmy Award nomination. One of the first in this area. (I still say we should have won.) So having Ed there will actually be reassuring for me. Even my buddy Jon Summers said he would try to stop by just for support. Is that awesome or what? My challenge is to fix that wig so it looks good every morning by 10am. But you know what? If it doesn't work out my buddy Mike Randall has already offered me his Mark Twain wig! If I can get the moustashe we got a deal! xxme
