I was toying with the idea of heading south over my April vacation, but decided against it a few weeks ago.
Yeah, still kicking myself for that.
While I really enjoyed time with my family, I think the weather here in Buffalo last week was the worst we've seen so far this spring.
So, it was time for some indoor fun!
One day, armed with passports and birth certificates, we headed over to Niagara Falls, Ontario.
First stop: The Butterfly Conservatory! It's warm inside there!
We walked around a botanical garden with butterflies flying everywhere! My husband even had a few land on him and stay for quite a long time!
The butterflies are beautiful, and there are even some colorful, poisonous frogs... in a tank, of course!
From there, we headed to Jimmy Buffet's Margaritaville for lunch.
This place is decorated like a tropical paradise. Umbrella tables, a big wooden ship, mermaids and a tile floor that looks like the ocean, but I still wasn't feeling it.
Maybe it was the snow falling outside!
The highlight there is not the margaritas (they were good) or the food (it was OK).
It's a different surprise. A big one.
About every hour, a loud horn sounds and a giant tequila bottle comes out from behind a screen that's showing a waterfall. The big bottle then dumps water into a giant blender that slowly fills up with a green liquid (that's the margarita). It was pretty neat, and I am pretty sure my daughter and my niece liked it more than the butterflies!
Will I be going back? Probably when the weather gets better. I think I'll really get into the tropical mood then, and I just have to see that massive margarita being mixed again!
