It's finally March. That means we've survived what are usually the worst winter months, January and February. It means spring is only a few weeks away! It means Tasty Treat in Lockport is open again! And, here at Channel 7, it means it's time for the Variety Kids Telethon!
Come Sunday, March 6th, everybody at the station will head across the street to the Adam's Mark Hotel in Buffalo for the 12-hour event to raise money for the kids. They are special needs children from all over Western New York. Each one of them has a story that will inspire you, make you stronger, and help you appreciate your health and the health of your family.
Every year, I tell the story of the Celebrity Child. This year, she is six year old Gracie Isabella Joyce from Lake View. What a doll!!! This first grader never stops going, despite being diagnosed with cerebal palsy and other conditions as a result of being born prematurely. What I found so surprising is her concern for other sick children, who may not have the support she has had. What a big heart on this little girl!
The telethon starts Sunday morning at 7 and runs until 7pm on Channel 7. All kinds of local and national celebrities will be involved, and we hope you will call in a pledge. It's amazing what a difference your donation will make in the life of a child. I am lucky that my kids were born healthy, but I never know when I may need the services of Women and Children's Hospital in Buffalo or any of the other children's charities that benefit from the telethon. I see the event as an investment in all children, and that's an investment with a huge return!
