Are you a TV snob? Only want to watch the channels in
high-definition? That's most people these days. Boy, have times changed.
I can remember when picture clarity was determined by the strength of those rabbit ears on top of the TV. In Lockport where I grew up, we watched grainy stations from Canada and never gave it a second thought.
Now, many of us turn up our nose if our favorite sporting event is not the crystal clear, life-like picture that HD can provide. Some even get angry!
Channel 7 is moving forward with plans to go to HD later this month. That's good news for our viewers who have HD televisions.
I, on the other hand, am a little worried. Seeing every detail in a picture is good unless it's your face. I've heard all the scare tactics: "HD-TV picks up absolutely every
imperfection!" Make up, always a must in TV, is now even more important.
As a result, we've had several visits from make up experts to fine tune our look. They are using an airbrush to spray make up on our face. The key is the silicone in the foundation. It provides great coverage and stays on better.
I'm even being encouraged to wear false eyelashes."They really make your eyes pop", I'm told. The look is great, but I am not sure I can glue those things on every night and still get on the set on time!
Television stations are not required to go HD, but many are doing it anyway. Why not take advantage of the technology that is out there?
It's where things are going in TV, and so I'll be along for the ride, but please understand if some days my eyelashes look crooked!
