I spent the weekend at Camp Scouthaven, in Allegany County, and had a blast with my oldest son. We arrived early on Friday and claimed our tent, our tent would be our home through Monday. Our new home was not like our real home. No electricity in this tent, which meant no air conditioning, no computers, no phones(including cell)-and it was great.
My son and I spent four straight days in the wilderness. We started out on Friday getting to know our new surroundings which meant a quick swim in the lake. Then it was into the woods with the frogs, chipmunks and bears. We encountered many frogs and chipmunks but thankfully no bears! After a great camp fire and star gazing it was time to call it a night and head back to the tent as many adventures were still ahead. We spent the weekend fishing, boating, bike riding, shooting bb-guns, and making memories that will last a lifetime. My son was able to spend 4 days without video games and he lived! He had the chance to hold a live python and while fishing he almost caught a snapping turtle. To his dismay I pulled his fishing rod out of the water before he could snag the turtle, Dad was not taking that turtle off the line! This was our second annual camping trip and I can't wait until we do it again next year!
