Wow! My garden is blooming and it's the most colorful it's been in years. The incredible amount of rain we've received this June has helped the plants tremendously. I'm not thrilled about cutting my lawn so often this year but the green is much better than the crusty brown alternative.

As of this blog our June is the 8th wettest in the last 140 years of record keeping. The rainy nights and sunny days are making for some beautiful colors across Western New York. I love planting perennials, once they really establish themselves you can't beat the results. This year my kids are really enjoying it too. My son planted a bean plant next to my pepper plant and he checks on it every day. This new interest in gardening has been great.

It's interesting now that I'm blogging I'm always thinking about different things to blog about. I want to try to keep the blog weather-related and gardens are very weather dependent. Enjoy the great growing weather and I hope your time in the garden is enjoyable for you as it is for me.

One more thing before I sign off. Last week I blogged about how much I enjoy being a dad to my three fantastic sons. This week I took a phone call from Jane Kwiatkowski from the Buffalo News-she is doing a story on Father's Day and I'm going to be in it. If you get a chance check out the news this Sunday, I'm very excited to see how the story came out.
