I was invited to speak to the Earth Science students at North Tonawanda High School. It was great being back at NTHS, the same school I graduated from way back in 1992.
The school looks so different to me now after almost twenty years. They've added an entire science wing to the school.
I was placed in a classroom with about fifty students. The students were great, very polite and had some fantastic questions.
They are covering the weather unit right now so I was able to share some meteorology knowledge with them. I always tell students, as they get ready for college, to go to school for something they love to do. You will most likely be working for the next 40 years so you should enjoy what you do. I'm so I glad I followed my passion for meteorology. I enjoy my job a lot and I hope they will enjoy the field they choose as well.
Now with technology the way it is they can research so many topics from the palm of their hands. I explained to them when I went to school we did not have e-mail, cell phones, wii, or a fast internet connection. Things change and can change quickly so they'll need to adapt.
I had a great time back in high school this morning!
