When I got in my car this morning and saw it was only 7 degrees, it reminded me of a time when I had no idea what “that” really meant. Warning, this story my have you rolling your eyes at the thought process of a naive Southern California girl. Here goes… I took my first broadcast job in Casper, Wyoming back in 2009. I thought of it as an adventure since I was born and raised in Orange County, California (located between San Diego and Los Angeles).
My first Wyoming winter was an experience since I had only seen snow a few times in my life. It was an absolutely frigid day when I decided I needed to do laundry (I’m very particular about my clothes and hang dry all my pants and shirts so they don’t shrink or fade). I pulled all my wet clothes out of the wash and hung them up on hangers, the towels and socks got put in the dryer. I decided while I was waiting for the socks to dry, I’d go for a run on the treadmill in the gym next door. So naturally, I put all my wet clothes on hangers in the car while I was running. About 30 minutes later, I picked up my socks and towels from the dryer and headed to the car. It was then I discovered, putting wet pants in a freezing car isn’t a great idea. I noticed white marks on my pants (ice). I poked at the stiff pair of pants in disbelief. This is how to properly "freeze your pants off."
