The Niagara Frontier Watercolor Society announces its April meeting and artist demonstration, Thursday, April 24th at 7 pm at the Amherst Community Church on Washington Hwy in Snyder. The featured artist demonstrator will be Rochester artist, Valerie Larsen. Valerie has a studio and gallery space in the popular Anderson Arts Building in Rochester’s Neighborhood of the Arts. She exhibits her work throughout the U.S., and is a signature member of the National Watercolor Society, the Watercolor USA Honor Society and the Philadelphia Water Color Society. She has won numerous awards for her work in juried exhibitions, notably the Adirondack National Exhibition of American Watercolors, the Salmagundi Club Juried Exhibition in NYC, the National Watercolor Society Members Exhibition and Watercolor USA in Springfield, Missouri. Her work appears in the Splash watercolor books by Northlight.
Valerie states, “Like a journalist, I look for the slant in which the important elements of a painting can be woven together into a cohesive and meaningful story. Each work is a decision making process with preliminary drawings and color studies to resolve the composition, design, technique, and even style choices to communicate more clearly the essential ideas of the painting. There is an invitation for the viewer to enter the scene without a personal editorial.”

Visitors are invited to hear about watercolor classes and upcoming events, watch the demo, and enjoy refreshments with a group of enthusiastic fellow artists and art lovers. For more information about NFWS, check out our website,, or our facebook page,
