A local woman who helps keep thousands of Western New York kids healthy is our April Women in Leadership Nominee.
Eyewitness News is partnering with the Buffalo-Niagara Chapter of the National Association of Women Business Owners on these monthly reports.
Sandra Yeater has had a long career in healthcare management and has brought tremendous growth since taking over the reigns at Tonawanda Pediatrics. That's why she's been chosen to be part of our Women In Leadership series. Here's Eyewitness News Anchor Joanna Pasceri.
Keeping thousands of Western New York children healthy is a big job. It's one that Sandra Yeater has been involved in for the past eight years, and it suits her.
As Executive Director of Tonawanda Pediatrics, she's in charge of 16 doctors, nine nurse practitioners, and the 18,000 kids who are in their care.
Tonawanda Pediatrics has grown 40% since Sandra came on board, taking in about a thousand new babies a year. The focus is on quality care and accessibility. The office sees patients from 7am until 8pm and has a 24-hour phone service where you can reach a doctor.
Tonawanda Pediatrics has now expanded to four locations, providing services to Grand Island, Amherst, West Amherst and Buffalo, and last year, earning a top honor from the National Committee on Quality Assurance, an independent accreditation group.
There's plenty of work to do here for Sandra, but these days, she also makes time to mentor others for leadership positions. Her best advice: work hard and do the right thing.
