Buffalo is well-known for its culinary inventions: the chicken wing, the hamburger, Beef on Weck, sponge candy.

Well, the Queen City is also home to the footlong hot dog -- and the shop responsible for it all is coming back to Buffalo!

Louie's Original Footlong Hot Dogs will open a year-round location at 1893 Niagara Street.

"The problem is that when we close down for the season, people can't eat our food for five months out of the year," said Angelo Turco, the son of Louie's founder Louis Turco.

Owner Angelo Turco will take over the 60-seat George's Diner, a former pillar in the Black Rock neighborhood for years.

Remodeling is expected to begin January 1st, 2018.

"We hope to open on March 1st, 2018," said Turco.

The restaurant also plans on offering delivery like the Elmwood location did.

Craving good hot dogs? You can find Louie's at 69 Grand Island Boulevard in Tonawanda.
