(WKBW/ABC News) Just because you strap children in a booster seat, it doesn't mean they are being properly protected in case of a crash.
A new study shows some booster seats are not making the grade!
Booster seats are designed to lift kids aged 4 to 8 so that seat belts fit them properly. They can help save children's lives in car crashes, but not all seats are created equal.
The Insurance Institute for Highway Safety put
them to the test. More than 80 seats were involved, but only 31 of them are rated best bets.
A properly positioned booster seat should allow the shoulder belt to rest between the child's neck and shoulder with the lap belt on the lap and not around the stomach.
Here are the six boosters not recommended by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety:
