Western New York Goes Red With A Traveling Gallery

(WKBW) Western New York is going red with a new program from the American Heart Association that helps spread the word about heart disease, the number one killer of women.
A kickoff was held at Mercy Hospital for a traveling survivor gallery. It's made up of local women who survived heart disease and are now educating other women about the signs and symptoms.
WKBW-TV is teaming up with Catholic Health in this effort to get women to pay more attention to their health.
Kelly Rummings is an Amherst woman who is one of the heart survivors in the gallery. She says even though she experienced severe chest pain during her heart attack, she chose to ignore it, passing it off as a muscle strain because it didn't last very long.
To strengthen the bond between women coping with heart disease, The American Heart Association has created an online program where they can offer each other support. For more information on Go Red Heart Match, click on News Links.
