(WKBW/ABC) Want to help keep your mind sharp as you get older? A new study says take a walk.
Researchers found that the distance walked improved mental function as well as brain volume in healthy elderly people and those with Alzheimer's.
The study showed those with mild cognitive impairment and Alzheimer's who walked at least five miles a week had greater brain volume and better mental function than those who were less active.
Mental improvement was seen in healthy patients, if they walked more than six miles a week.
