(WKBW) Ever wish you could just talk to a doctor about a health problem without having to make an appointment at the office? Well, there is a new service out there that may be for you. BlueCross BlueShield of Western New York has unveiled Online Care NY.
The online service is the first in the northeast. It's a convenient way to get medical care quickly by offering patients experiencing minor conditions, like cold and flu symptoms, real-time access to local physicians using a computer or telephone.
During an interaction, doctors can speak with and see the patient, and, if appropriate, diagnose, prescribe, and recommend follow-up care. The doctors available include internists, pediatricians, and OB/GYN's.
Online Care NY is available to BlueCross BlueShield members and non-members. It is not a covered benefit, and the cost of a 10 minute consultation with a primary care physician is $25.
