(WKBW/Cleveland Clinic) How many times have you said it? "I'm having a light lunch!" It's easier said than done, but it doesn't have to be!
Registered dietitians at the Cleveland Clinic say you can cut as much as 500 calories almost instantly, by making a few simple changes, like picking broth-based soups over cream-based soups, and eating a salad with the dressing on the side.
Also, watch the condiments. Have hummus instead of mayo, and use whole wheat bread, flat bread, or a wrap to save calories.
Plus: load up your sandwiches with less lunch meat and more veggies. They say adding things like alfalfa sprouts, cucumbers, or roasted red peppers will give you plenty of flavor without adding calories, and remember to chew your food slowly.
If you can, spend part of your lunch hour walking, to burn off some of the calories you just took in!!!
