How The IUD Can Slow Cancer

(WKBW/ABC) Intrauterine devices, called IUDs, are a type of birth control, but now Italian researchers have found IUDs are also effective in treating endometrial cancer.

The usual treatment for the disease is a total hysterectomy, but now women may be able to delay that procedure by implanting an IUD.

Researchers say it can slow the progression of the disease long enough for women to have children before having their reproductive organs removed.
