(WKBW/ABC News) The holiday weekend is almost here. It's a time to celebrate the nation's birthday with parades, barbecues, fireworks and yes, booze.

But that could mean trouble for under-aged boys.

A new study found that more than twice as many underage males wind up in a hospital emergency room on the 4th of July weekend because of alcohol, compared to the rest of the month.

Researchers advise parents to discuss alcohol use with their children early and often to prevent a tragedy not just this Fourth of July weekend, but at any time.
