(WKBW/Cleveland Clinic) If you didn't put down your cigarette for the Great American Smokeout, here's something else that may help. A change in your diet!
In a study done by Duke researchers, smokers said cigarettes tasted worse after drinking water or juice and after eating fruit, vegetables or dairy products.
So, some people suggest dipping cigarettes in milk and letting them dry, making them taste unpleasant if they're smoked.
You can also keep some string cheese or grapes handy for those times you feel like lighting up.
Dietitians say you can also try vegetables that require a little more effort to chew.
Kristin Kirkpatrick, a registered dietitian with the Cleveland Clinic says, " Smoking is an oral fixation. So, what you
want to do is to have foods that are very crunchy. Things that are
actually going to work your jaw are going to taste good and be healthy as well. So, carrots and celery are great options. "
