New President Named At The Botanical Gardens

Buffalo, NY ( release)- Mary Ann Kresse, Chair of the Buffalo and Erie County Botanical Gardens Society, Inc., announced today that David J. Swarts has been selected as the Gardens’ new President/Chief Executive Officer, as a result of an extensive and thorough search since last September.
“David, a lifelong resident of Erie County, is an outstanding individual who has, throughout his extensive career, consistently demonstrated the administrative and managerial skills necessary to the lead the Gardens’ to a new and exciting level. Whether in his capacity as Commissioner of the New York State Department of Motor Vehicles, Erie County Clerk or a Buffalo School Teacher, David has proven to be a creative problem solver who effectively responds to the varied challenges he has faced”, Kresse said.
David will be responsible for administering the day to day operations of the Gardens’ and for implementing its overall Master Plan and the recently adopted Strategic Plan. “This is an exciting time for the Gardens’ and the Board is confident that under David’s leadership, the Gardens’ will continue to be successful in its efforts to meet the challenges that confront us in the future”, Kresse concluded.
